The Role of Margilan City in the History of World Civilization

This publication consists of materials of scientific talks presented at the conference devoted to the 2000th anniversary of the city of Margilan's establishment. The stages of forming of the urban culture in the Fergana Valley - particularly in Margilan - are discussed on the basis of historical and archeological sources. The publication is also focused on the role and place of Margilan city within the people's socio-cultural life in Uzbekistan and in Central Asia in general. Especially, the lives and acrivities of the famous Uzbek scholars, writers, and artists from Margilan are analyzed in the articles of this publication.
