This is the inaugural issue of the periodical Information Bulletin of the International Association for the Study of the Cultures of Central Asia. The objectives of the Bulletin are not only to supply information: according to the goals formulated by the UNESCO Project on the Study of the Cultures of Central Asia, it is to concert the efforts of scholars concerned with various aspects of diverse cultures of the peoples of this region so that they could participate more actively in broadening our knowledge through holding symposia and conferences and popularizing them in scholarly publications. This work should and can only be carried out by joint efforts, and another important and noble task today is to unite scholars’ efforts for exploring the creative possibilities of humanity, its continuous cultural and intellectual activity in advancing civilization and progress.
